Wellness wheel completed by a senior student.

The Wellness Priorities Survey at Reynolds Secondary School, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was the beginning of the journey towards creating my Resources

The survey was developed in 2000 by the school’s Student Services team. For the purpose of the project, three models were used to promote health and to guide the development of an action plan in the Reynolds School community. The models used were the Comprehensive School Health Model, the Wellness Wheel Model and the Transitional Model of Change.

The first step in a comprehensive process was to enable people to improve their health. They can increase control over their health by understanding what their needs are and how they would like their needs met. The Reynolds’ Wellness Priorities Survey was designed to address these issues through the administration and analysis of a questionnaire to students, staff, parents and community.

The second step in the process was to use the information to help develop a comprehensive action plan.

But as a growing body of research shows . . . health problems can often be prevented – or the onset of them delayed – through lifestyle changes. (Swatzberg and Margen, 1998)

People travel to wonder …

At the height of the mountains …
The long course of rivers …
The huge waves of the sea …
The vast compass of the ocean …
And the circular motion of the stars …

And they pass by themselves without wondering.
