From the article Changing within to strengthen community:
Gina Wilson joined the Canadian federal government 25 years ago and has steadily risen through the ranks. Ms. Wilson is currently the deputy minister of women and gender equality and youth. She is an inspiration for many Indigenous peoples in Canada. She was awarded the 2020 Indspire Award for her leadership and lifelong work on Indigenous issues.
Gina answers the question “How has your culture influenced your wellness? Has it been a big part of your success as a leader?” Gina describes the importance of daily use of the Wellness Wheel in her life:
“Even today, I use the medicine wheel daily and ask myself how I am feeling physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.”
The Wellness Wheel Model is the core of the Resource “Wellness: A Question of Balance.” It provides a framework for lifelong learning about health and becomes the anchor for a school community culture.
